Press Release: The AICHR Dialogue with ASEAN Community Councils on the ASEAN Human Rights Declaration (AHRD) and the Pnom Penh Statement on the Adoption of the AHRD, 25 – 26 May 2015, Jakarta, Indonesia
Led by Representative of Indonesia to the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR), Mr. Rafendi Djamin, the AICHR hosted the first ever Dialogue between the AICHR and the ASEAN Community Councils on the ASEAN Human Rights Declaration (AHRD) and the Phnom Penh Statement on the Adoption of the AHRD. The Dialogue was held on 25 – 26 May 2015 at the Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Indonesia, which was also supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
Public Debate: “ASEAN Human Rights Mechanism Post-2015 – An Indonesian Perspective”
More than one hundred (100) key national stakeholders – coming from relevant government agencies, academe, media, civil society, and members of the diplomatic corps gathered in Erasmus Huis on Tuesday, 21 April 2015. It was for a Public Debate entitled “ASEAN Human Rights Mechanism Post-2015 – An Indonesian Perspective”, which was organized by the Representative of Indonesia to the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR), and supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Sharing national experience on human rights implementation in ASEAN
The ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) organized a regional workshop on domestication of human rights obligations, 17-18 December 2014 in Luanprabang, Lao PDR. In attendance of the workshop were H.E. Mr Bounkeut Sangsomsak, Minister of Justice, H.E. Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, the incoming Chair of AICHR, Representative of Malaysia to AICHR, H.E. Mr Phoukhong Sisoulath, Representative of Lao PDR to AICHR, Director General of the Department of Treaties and Law, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Among the participants were AICHR Representatives or alternates from ASEAN Member States, representatives from ASLOM, ACWC, ACW, ACMW, AIPA, ASEAN Secretariat, law and justice agencies and institutions of ASEAN Member States.

Led by the Indonesian Representative to the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR), Mr. Rafendi Djamin, the AICHR held a four-day Training of Trainers on ASEAN Human Rights Mechanisms for ASEAN Member States Law Enforcement Officers from 27-30 November 2014 at Pullman Hotel in Bali, Indonesia. The training, which was opened by H.E. Ambassador Kyaw Tint Swe as Chair of the AICHR, was supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Indonesia and Regional EU-ASEAN Dialogue Instrument (READI) Facility.

The ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights held a two-day workshop on Regional Mechanisms: Best Practices on Implementation of Human Rights from 17-18 November 2014 at Eastin Grand Sathorn in Bangkok, Thailand. This Workshop was organised by the Representative of Thailand to the AICHR (H.E. Dr. Seree Nonthasoot) with partial support from UN Women and Regional EU-ASEAN Dialogue Instrument.
Press Release: The AICHR Follow-Up Workshop on Post Millennium Development Goals 2015 and Human Rights

The AICHR conducted the Follow-Up Workshop on Post Millennium Development Goals 2015 and Human Rights at Four Seasons Hotel, Jakarta on 15-16 October 2014. The convening of this Workshop is line with the recommendations of the previous AICHR Workshop on Post MDGs and Human Rights which was held in Jakarta in November 2013 as well as with AICHR Priority Programmes from 2013 which has organised several activites related to the achievement of MDGs.
AICHR Workshop on the Sharing of Experiences on Universal Periodic Review Process among ASEAN Member States

Lead by the Representative of Thailand, Dr. Seree Nonthasoot, the AICHR conducted a workshop on the sharing of experiences on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) process among ASEAN Member States on 19 September 2014 in Bangkok, Thailand, supported by the Royal Thai Government. The workshop was opened by remarks by the Chair of the AICHR, H.E. U Kyaw Tint Swe, and the keynote address by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Royal Thai Government, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow.
AICHR Workshop on Human Rights, Environment and Climate Change
13 – 15 September 2014, Yangon, Myanmar
In line with the implementation of the ASEAN Human Rights Declaration (AHRD), particularly Article 28 (f), the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) organised the Workshop on Human Rights, Environment and Climate Change in Yangon, Myanmar on 13 to 15 September 2014. The activity is in line with two out of seven priorities outlined by President U Thein Sein under the ASEAN Chairmanship of Myanmar.
AICHR Regional Workshop on the Reporting Obligations: Sharing experience and best practices
