Lao PDR Prepares an Initial Report under ICCPR

On 12 December 2013, at the International Convention and Training Center (ICTC) in Vientiane, the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights Regional Office organized a Workshop on Reporting under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. The Lao PDR ratified the ICCPR in 2009 and is in the preparatory process for the country’s Initial Report. Attending the Workshop were officials from line ministries and institutions appointed as coordinating persons under the National Steering Committee on Human Rights established since 2012.
Philippines Promotes Human Rights-Based Approach to Combat Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children, in ASEAN

The Philippines, through the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Department of Justice – Inter-agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT), hosted an ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) Regional Workshop on the Human Rights-Based Approach to Combat Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children, in Makati from 27 to 28 November 2013.
Meeting with representatives from the Thai Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand

The meeting was held on 17 April 2013 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangkok, Thailand. The participants of the meeting were Director-General of the Department of ASEAN Affairs, H.E. Dr. Seree Nonthasoot (Thailand Representative to AICHR), representatives of Thai CSOs and representatives from relevant government agencies.

The ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) organised a five-day Advanced Programme on Human Rights: Training of the Trainers from 16 – 20 November 2013, at the Sukosol Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand.
