Public Debate: “ASEAN Human Rights Mechanism Post-2015 – An Indonesian Perspective”

More than one hundred (100) key national stakeholders – coming from relevant government agencies, academe, media, civil society, and members of the  diplomatic corps gathered in Erasmus Huis on Tuesday, 21  April 2015. It was for a Public Debate entitled “ASEAN Human Rights Mechanism Post-­2015 – An Indonesian Perspective”, which was organized by the Representative of Indonesia to the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR), and supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Press Release: The AICHR Training of Trainers on ASEAN Human Rights Mechanisms for ASEAN Member States Law Enforcement Officers

27 – 30 November 2014, Bali, Indonesia

Led by the Indonesian Representative to the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR), Mr. Rafendi Djamin, the AICHR held a four-day Training of Trainers on ASEAN Human Rights Mechanisms for ASEAN Member States Law Enforcement Officers from 27-30 November 2014 at Pullman Hotel in Bali, Indonesia. The training, which was opened by H.E. Ambassador Kyaw Tint Swe as Chair of the AICHR, was supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Indonesia and Regional EU-ASEAN Dialogue Instrument (READI) Facility.

The AICHR conducted the Follow-Up Workshop on Post Millennium Development Goals 2015 and Human Rights at Four Seasons Hotel, Jakarta on 15-16 October 2014. The convening of this Workshop is line with the recommendations of the previous AICHR Workshop on Post MDGs and Human Rights which was held in Jakarta in November 2013 as well as with AICHR Priority Programmes from 2013 which has organised several activites related to the achievement of MDGs.

AICHR Regional Workshop on MDGs Post 2015 and Human Rights
The ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) organized a two day Regional Workshop on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Post 2015 and Human Rights in Jakarta, Indonesia, from 11-12 December 2013. The Regional Workshop was held by AICHR Indonesia with support from the Directorate General of ASEAN Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia and the Regional EU-ASEAN Dialogue Instrument (READI) Facility.

Building a Torture-Free ASEAN Community

Press Release of the Round Table Discussion and the First Coordination Meeting of the AICHR Thematic Study on Migration and Human Rights

Indonesia has hosted the Round Table Discussion and First Coordination Meeting of the AICHR thematic study on Migration and Human Rights in Bandung on 5-6 November 2012. Both meetings serve as an initial discussion of the AICHR thematic study on migration and human rights in ASEAN, for which Indonesia is the lead country for this thematic study. The Round Table Discussion was facilitated by the Indonesian Representative to AICHR and was attended by several speakers from various International Organizations as well as representatives of different stakeholders in Southeast Asia.
